What makes it different
Chess pieces slide in straight lines or jump in an L. The Snake does neither: it winds. It travels outward along eight curving paths, each bending as it goes, ending on squares no rook, bishop or queen can reach. It can capture at the end of its journey or partway along it.
The King has a move of its own. Once per game it may give up one of its own neighbouring pieces and step onto that square — a way out of a position that should have been fatal.
The full rules are on the rules page.
