Community Guidelines
Petteia — The Mother of Chess · Code of Conduct
Our aim
Petteia should be a welcoming place to play, learn, and talk about a beautiful game. These guidelines apply everywhere on the Platform — games, chat, forums, usernames, profiles, and messages to staff. By using Petteia you agree to follow them.
Be respectful
- Treat others with courtesy. No harassment, bullying, threats, or personal attacks.
- No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
- No sexual content, and absolutely nothing that sexualises minors. This results in an immediate permanent ban and, where required, a report to the authorities.
Play fair
- No cheating: do not use chess engines, bots, or outside assistance in rated games.
- No rating manipulation: no sandbagging, deliberate losing, win-trading, or multiple accounts to affect ratings, leaderboards, or tournaments.
- No deliberate stalling, disconnecting to avoid a loss, or abusing the timer.
Keep it clean and lawful
- No spam, scams, phishing, or advertising.
- No sharing of others' private information ("doxxing").
- No illegal content or activity, and no attempts to hack, disrupt, or overload the Platform.
- Choose a username and profile that follow these same rules.
Chat & forum
- Stay on-topic in forums and use clear, civil language.
- Disagree with ideas, not with people. Heated but respectful debate is fine; abuse is not.
- Report content that breaks these rules using the in-app tools rather than retaliating.
How we enforce
Depending on severity and history, we may remove content, issue a warning, mute or restrict access, suspend an account, or ban permanently. Serious violations (such as threats or content harming minors) can lead to an immediate permanent ban without prior warning.
Appeals
